To Be Raw For More Energy

By admin, February 3, 2010

A ton of people are turning to raw food to loose weight.  If you’re interested in loosing weight, you should try to be raw, and see if this gives your body what it needs to loose some pounds.   I have friends who are loosing weight this way and there are many coaches and authors who can give you a complete guide to loosing weight with raw foods.  Click now for the best raw food weight loss book.  Do what they outline in it and you’ll loose weight for sure!

Anybody ever notice how drained you feel after eating a heavily cooked meal and how light and airy you feel after eating some light fruit or a salad? Well this usually will happen due to the overburdening on your digestion, it takes a lot of time and energy for your body to digest its food, sometimes. Mainly when the food is cooked! Raw food, on the other hand, is easily digested and takes a very short period of time to move through your digestive tract.

To be raw means to be lighter and feel more energetic. This is made simpler by putting those lighter, energy-rich foods inside your body. They are still living, enzyme-intact, and are the best way to nourish your body.

I have been eating a raw food diet for years, and convinced fruit is the way to go for me. I will wake up, drink a large glass of water…let that sit for a little while, maybe an hour. Then I will continue to eat fruit all day long! It keeps my energy level up, keeps my focused and alert, and tastes great! I may have a salad to change it up a bit, but I am completely satisfied with a mostly-fruit diet!

In the evening you may decide to eat something a little bit more heavy. Good examples of this would be baked red potatoes, pasta, steamed veggies or rice. These are always great paired with a salad and will leave you feeling full and satisfied.

Be Raw? Ok, Now What?

What does it mean to “be raw“?  Does it mean only eating food that is uncooked, or how about eating at least most of your food this way?   Many “raw foodists” have wildly differing opinions on this simple definition.

To Be Raw, to me, means eating the majority of your calories uncooked.   Why would someone do this? You might ask… there is no simple answer for this simple question.  In a few words eating your food without cooking it can have dramatic effects on your health. These effects can only be seen as good, as long as you are getting enough calories to sustain good energy levels.

I have gone through periods where I could not get enough raw food into my system because I didn’t really want to.  I feel like this is a sustainable option only for a specific set amount of time.  Look at it more as a raw food cleanse, and less as a raw food diet. It is perfectly fine to lessen the amount of calories you intake for a specific period, but it is highly unlikely that you will keep your enthusiasum up if you don’t have some great food to look forward to.

Speaking of great food, there are plenty of options for the raw foodist to have an amazing meal.  I’ve made some pretty dynamite raw enchiladas and raw salsa and chips from a recipe book called The Top Rawmen.  I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to get into gourmet raw food.   When my wife and I whipped up a batch of zuchini hummus we ate an entire tub of this stuff dipping everything we could find into it!  Kale, carrots, lettuce, jicama root, celery, bell peppers, the list goes on.

Sometimes an amazing meal can be as simple as some incredible seed cheeze and a gorgeous red bell pepper!  The tastes of living, juice filled, fruits and vegetables can’t be beat!

So to be raw is more about your relationship with the food you eat, rather than worrying about the amount of raw food you consume.  Raw food has become quite the fad diet these days, but I don’t really mind that because, it’s so unlike any “diet” anyone will ever get on.  It can’t even be classified as a diet, to me.  It’s more of a “livit” than a diet!  You eat living food, it should be called livit! We’ll leave the diets to people who think they can stay healthy eating mostly dead food!
